America's First Mountain Endurance Foot Race

A perfect movie in the leadup to the 2025 Ski to Sea! This coming Monday the 19th, a documentary called The Mountain Runners will play at the Pickford Film Center telling the story of America's first mountain endurance foot race, which started here in Bellingham in 1911. Check out the trailer. 👇️

Filmed in a docudrama style, it “incorporates vintage images, historic film, visual graphics and 3D effects, and recreated dramatizations staring William B. Davis,” and details the “grueling 28 to 32 mile race to the glacial summit of Mount Baker and back, [that] lasted only three years due to its intrepid dangers.” As of writing this, tickets are available.
