🐹 Trolley By The Bay 🚋🚋

Good morning, Bellingham. This is your Monday update from The Hamster Wheel.

It’s going to stay warm, but there’s a little rain on the horizon this week. Our gardens will be grateful. 🌼

Have fun, and stay safe out there!

Get off the Hamster Wheel

“Trolley” by the Bay

I wish they would bring back a true trolley system in Bellingham. Narrow rails, cute cars, traffic maneuvering around them in awkward ways… But hey, the brand new Waterfront Trolley is pretty cool alternative. 👇️

It sports a fun blue wrap that includes sea critters, and makes a short loop from the downtown station through the waterfront, including Squalicum Harbor, Waypoint Park, and past the Granary Building.

I’m not sure if the squeaky wood-clad Fairhaven trolley is still in service. I think maybe not. Regardless, these themed transportation options are a great benefit to Bham. Whether your a local or visiting, it’ll be fun to jump on the Waterfront Trolley and stop at Trackside for a beer, take the kids to the Marine Center, or watch a kite fly at Zuanich Park.

Mabel’s Next Mooove

The Whatcom Humane Society posted this weekend that Mabel the cow will be leaving the WHS farm facility “to live on the most amazing farm sanctuary with access to pastures and other cows.” To get her ready for this new life of bovine leisure, she needs veterinary care and tests.

WHS is asking the public to make donations in support of Mabel’s continued veterinary care. 🐮

In other news…

🚿 The Bellingham Parks & Rec department has announced the opening of spray parks located at Cornwall Memorial Park, Cordata Park, and Fairhaven Park.

All three parks will remain open through September 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. “The spray park utilizes fresh, potable water. It is not recycled.” I love that they specify that it’s not recycled water. 🤣
