Good morning, Bellingham. This is your Wednesday update from The Hamster Wheel.

Friends and neighbors, this is the 273rd edition of The Wheel. That’s a whole lot of newsletters!

It’s been tremendous fun to write each one, and I’m so grateful to all of you for the beautiful photos, event submissions, and friendly notes. This newsletter wouldn’t be what it is without you. 🙏

That said, I’m hankering to get out and enjoy some of this summer weather before it passes us by. With that in mind, I’m putting the newsletter on hold for a couple weeks. Expect the next edition later in July.

Get off the Hamster Wheel

Mountain bike adventure photographer Dan Milner will present a free slideshow and talk at The Landing at Evil Bikes tomorrow night, July 2 at 7 pm.

“Dan has been featured in dozens of magazines and videos in the 30 years he's been adventuring around the world. His photographs speak for themselves, but he adds his British humor to the stories he shares.“

A portion of beverage sales will be donated to WMBC (Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition).

Birch Bay Beach Cleanup: Support beach cleanup at the Birch Bay Berm after the July 4 festivities. 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Parking is available along Birch Bay Dr.
Beach Cleanup at Locust Beach: Re-Sources be set up in the Locust Beach parking lot (on the right of Locust Avenue just after turning off of Marine Drive) from 9-11 a.m. Cleanup supplies will be provided, along with snacks.

Spinning Into The Night

FEATURED

The Sharp Five Jazz Collective performs at Greene's Corner tomorrow, July 2 at 6 pm, featuring a group of veteran musicians dedicated to the post-bop jazz tradition. Their repertoire spans composers such as Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, and Roy Hargrove.

Charmed Life performs at Elizabeth Park tomorrow, July 2, beginning at 6 pm. The Bellingham quartet plays an eclectic mix of classic rock and folk-rock covers, bringing familiar songs to the park gazebo.

Louis Ledford and Warren Jackson Hearne share the stage at the Odd Fellows tomorrow night, July 2, with music beginning at 7 pm. Ledford, a Southern-raised songwriter now based in the Pacific Northwest, joins Hearne for an evening of Americana and roots music shaped by acoustic guitars, storytelling, and tradition.

WEDNESDAY

Fan Zone Watch Party Double Header, Trackside – Watch the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 matches, Belgium vs. Senegal at 1 pm and U.S. vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina at 5 pm, on a large outdoor screen.

Flower Market, Ohio Street Work Studios – Browse locally grown, seasonal flowers from 9 am to noon at this weekly market hosted by the North Sound Flower Cooperative, where regional flower growers offer fresh, sustainably grown blooms to the public and floral professionals.
