🐹 It's A Circus Out There 🎪🎪

Good morning, Bellingham. This is your Monday update from The Hamster Wheel.

We hear the sloth is back. And, maybe with lighting this time? 😆 Only in Bellingham.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms.

Have fun, and stay safe out there!

Juggle, Spin, Balance & Dance

How did I not know about this!! Bellingham has a Juggling festival that starts today and runs through this weekend. 🙂

The Cascade Juggling Festival includes performances from skilled professionals alongside opportunities for us noobs to pick up a few tricks. Catch all-level workshops today at 7 pm, and tomorrow at 11 am, then take your new juggling mastery to the Open Juggle Jam from 11 am to 5 pm at Fairhaven Middle School on Sunday.

Or, grab tickets to the Cascade Juggling Festival GALA SHOW at 7 pm on Saturday to see “top-notch juggling, prop manipulation, and circus all-stars from throughout the West Coast.” Get the details.

In other news…

🐟️ If you’ve never been to the Bellingham Kids’ Fishing Derby at the Whatcom Falls Derby Pond, tomorrow is your chance! Bring the kids to battle it out against hundreds of other little-fishers for prizes and bragging rights.

Hosted by Yeager’s and Bellingham Parks, the Derby is a flurry of crossed lines, wild casts, and a shocking number of stocked rainbow trout. It’s honestly one of best events in Bellingham. 🙂 Swing by Yeager’s for a copy of the Derby Rules if you’re taking a kiddo to fish.

🏃 If you’re not a fishing family, maybe racing’s more your speed. The Jr. Ski to Sea Race is this Saturday at Lake Padden Park. This year’s race includes a run, bike and kayak leg, with the elementary school age division starting at noon, and the middle and high school divisions joining at 2 pm. Details.

⛏️ Volunteer Opportunities This Weekend: There are a couple of outdoor work parties this weekend.

Crash an Open House

3161 Locust Avenue (Open Fri 2-6 pm, Sat 2-4 pm)
Okay, this one’s probably out of budget for most of us. But fun to look… and that view!! Pretty special to look out over Bellingham Bay, Lummi Island, and the Nooksack River delta. Listing

1721 Saint Paul Lane (Open Fri 4-6 pm, Sat 1-4 pm)
This home is like a fairytale cottage enlarged twenty times over. Love it! Great mix of exterior cladding and a gorgeous interior to match. I like how this one’s newer but doesn’t have that new home generic feel. Someone forged their own path. Listing
